New Internet service provider

SFSRA.org has moved to a new Internet service provider to take advantage of powerful technology, more reliable service and better performance. Our new ISP, Flagship Hosting, offers the powerful middlewares Lasso and PHP, the high-performance database MySQL, Communigate Pro for email and Urchin for Web statistics, all at a very reasonable price.

New, cleaner look and improved navigation

Subtle changes now appear site-wide.

  • Our name appears at the top of every page to brand the site consistently and provide better indexing by search engines.
  • The navigation bar at the top has been optimized for faster loading times, and it has been centered so that it feels more balanced.
  • News headlines flash beneath the top navigation bar to make important announcements.
  • A new navigation bar in the footer allows visitors to click between sections without scrolling back to the top of the page.

Data-driven Web site begins roll-out

In addition to all these improvements already made, SFSRA will be rolling out state-of-the-art data-driven Web applications over the next few months. The culmination of the rollout will be an online referee assignment application. Subscribe to RefTalk to stay informed of further developments.

SFSRA launches RefTalk, a new soccer referee email discussion list

RefTalk is an open forum for soccer referees to discuss topics of interest to refereeing soccer in and around the San Francisco Bay Area. Referees from other geographical regions are welcome to participate so long as discussion remains "on-topic".

Some topics include tournament listings, how to contact other referees and administrators, SFSRA Web site updates, questions about that call you or another referee made, changes to the Laws of the Game, upcoming clinics, games on TV or that you attend, registration and assessment procedures and so on.

Anyone can subscribe. The List Administrator reserves the right to remove (ban) people from the list for spamming, harassment or other abuse of the list.

Only members of RefTalk may post messages to the list. This eliminates spamming, and forces members to own up to their comments.

Subscribe to RefTalk now!

RefTalk improves email list services

With RefTalk, new services include:

  • password protected message archiving
  • better administration
  • two subscription modes (feed and digest)
